Our Story
Since 2009, Sweet Shrub Farms has raised meat goats in Carrollton, GA. In 2010, we added one hundred hair sheep to our operation. A foot scald outbreak that year resulted in ninety-seven of the one hundred sheep being infected. After extensive treatment with antibiotics and zinc sulfate we sold all but six of the ewes and twenty-five of the does from the goat herd.
Utilizing bi-weekly rotational grazing and isolation from the cow herd allowed us to be free of foot scald for one year. Moving portable netting fencing was not sustainable for our operation. Exposure to cattle resulted in high rates of foot scald in our goat herd. Thirty of our forty does had foot scald. After continued treatments and re-infections we were forced to make the decision to liquidate our goat herd.
Upon the recommendation of fellow farmer, Avery Nisbet, we gave the 5 in 1 Ewe Bolus to our goat herd before liquidating our herd and the results were impressive. The rate of foot scald reduced in our goat herd to the point we were able to simply cull our chronic animals. We also saw an improvement in vigor at birth, number of lambs and kids born, and an improvement in hair coat. The 5 in 1 Ewe Bolus has allowed us to continue raising meat goats in our operation in a sustainable manner. We recommend this product to all farmers looking to reduce parasite pressure and improve animal performance in their sheep, goat and cattle operations.
Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns regarding implementation of the All Guard 5 in 1 Ewe Bolus or All Guard Cattle Boluses in your operation.
We want to give our customers the ability to utilize these innovative technologies in their operations. Most of all, we want to improve our customers profitability while decreasing the need for antibiotics and dewormers in their operation.
